About The Shetland Association
What are we?
The Edinburgh and District Shetland Association was established in 1928 to cater to the social needs of a vibrant Shetland-connected community in and around Edinburgh and Leith. Although the size of this community of Shetlanders in Edinburgh has varied over the years and the style of social events has evolved, the aims of the Association remain steadfast: to bring Shetlanders together. We invite everyone to join the Shetland Association and participate in our regular ceilidh dances during the winter months, along with other Shetland events that showcase our unique heritage throughout the year. Dances are hosted at Lauriston Hall (28 Lauriston St, Edinburgh EH3 9DJ) in the heart of Edinburgh. Members, their friends, and visitors are warmly welcome to join us at all events, and we especially encourage former members of the Orkney and Caithness Societies who share our 'Norn heritage.'
